Regulations and prohibitions for navigation on the Dordogne River must be applied in accordance with the prefectural decree of May 12, 2015 and the law of May 4, 1995 relating to the practice of canoeing and kayaking in inland waters.<\/p>\n

Children aged 5 and over are allowed to navigate the Dordogne river.<\/p>\n

All participants must be able to swim 25 meters and submerge themselves.<\/p>\n

Children aged 5 to 12 must be supervised or accompanied.<\/p>\n

A personal flotation device (PFD) will be provided upon departure and must be worn on board the vessel.
Please wear closed-toe shoes.<\/p>\n

Classified as first category throughout the lower section, only the section from Argentat to Beaulieu presents second category difficulties. Children aged 7 and over are allowed to navigate this section. <\/p>\n

Navigation restrictions on the main section of the Dordogne (Cazoul\u00e8s > Beynac) are based on the water levels reached by the river at the Pont de C\u00e9nac gauge (values \u200b\u200bavailable on the Vigicrues website)<\/p>\n

Water level less than 1.50m: Navigation is free<\/p>\n

Water level between 1.50m and 2m: Boating is prohibited except with supervision by a person holding a specific qualification in canoeing and kayaking.<\/p>\n

Water level over 2m: Boating is prohibited.<\/p>\n

The golden rule is that you must know how to swim. We observe different rules depending on the water level. In July and August, when the river level is lower, we more readily allow children as young as 5 to participate. <\/p>\n

The navigation time indicated for each route is an approximate duration. It was calculated during the High Season period, when water levels are normal. You will need to add any desired break time. You can stop wherever you like along the riverbank, provided you leave no litter and respect the environment. During a visit or stop, you can leave your canoe on the riverbank for the duration of your break.
